NEW YORK, Feb 1, 2008 / FW/ — Science has deemed that our current technology will not allow us to travel back in time. But, for a designer like Rebecca Taylor, that is not a problem. All she had to do was delve into her grandmother’s dress up box to travel back to the 1930s.

Known for her romantic and fragile-looking creations, Rebecca Taylor created languid floral dresses, layers of lace and luminous chiffons that are highlighted with found beaded objects for Fall 2008.

Easy and lofty, the dresses come in dreamy neutral palette paired with rich jewel tones that evoke a sense of opulence. Dramatic maxi coats in leopard jacquard and menswear inspired blazers create new proportions that play with the intimate quality of the dresses.

The structured outerwear and clean lines are a perfect paradox to the tiers of diaphanous ruffles, creating an ideal balance between fantasy and reality.

Rebecca Taylor will show her Fall 2008 collection on Thursday, February 7 at 1pm at The Salon at Bryant Park.
