PARIS, Oct 2, 2008 / FW/ — Inspired by nature, the Lucia Blanco Spring / Summer 2009 evokes elements, lines and dimensions of different kinds of plants, where curved, elongated lines dominate.

Various leaf motifs are repeated throughout the collection. The design is based on working with fabric as if it were paper. Techniques similar to origami produce this effect on the garments’ textile art.

Fabrics used are cotton poplins, viscose knits, cotton satins, cotton and silk chiffon, silk chiffon, cotton gabardine and knitted cotton among others. The tones used for this collection are: dark and light green, blue, mink, light and dark grey, beige, white, pink, yellow, red, silver, lilac, black and neon.

Lucía Blanco is a graduate of the Clothing and Textile Design University in Buenos Aires. Before developing her own brand, she worked as a designer and product manager of a big clothing brand in Argentina. She has also worked as a stylist for Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.

During her career, Blanco has been awarded the prize for “Best Collection” given by La Nación newspaper; “Best textile design”, awarded by the Italian textile company Lineltex; “Best Design Space”, awarded by Edición Madrid 2 and the “Silver Scissors for best collection” in 2002.

Lucía Blanco has been presenting her collections in Buenos Aires Fashion Week since 2002 and at the Pasarela Gaudí since 2004. She also opened her first shop in Barcelona in 2005.
