LOS ANGELES, Dec 21, 2008 / FW / — Dame Edna Everage, easily recognizable for her lilac-colored hair (which she claims is natural) and cat eye glasses, spend time visiting world leaders and jet-setting between her homes in Los Angeles, London, Sydney, Switzerland and Martha’s Vineyard. She is a friend and confidante of the Queen and most recently, the inspiration of a new line of colors by M.A.C. Cosmetics.
Playing on all the things that Dame Edna loves, her Aussie heritage, and her utter authenticity, M.A.C created a collection that will be loved by young and old…the only way Dame would have it!
“Dame is quirky yet sexy. Charismatic and colourful! That is what we tried to do for her,” said Senior Vice President of Product Development M.A.C Worldwide, Jennifer Balbier. “She likes opposites…wow with a Pop. Orange and pink, red and lavender. A fictional characted played by Australian comedian Barry Humphries, Dame Ednd Everage is well-loved character who made her first stage appearance in 1955 in Melbourne. She made her international debut in London during the 1960s and on the big screen in 1972, then divided her time between making film and appearing regularly on TV shows for the rest of the 20th century.When 2000 rolled around, she made her debut on Broadway; but continued to appear on television.
Her latest escapade, a collaboration with M.A.C. Cosmetics wherein last December 15th, Dame Edna Everage stopped by the M.A.C PRO Store in Los Angeles to celebrate her dazzling new color collection which launches in stores on December 26, 2008.
