MILAN, Jan 10, 2009 / FW/ — On Sunday, January 18, 2009, to 11.00 am, at the company headquarters in Via Pontaccio 21, fashion editors and buyers will witness the unveiling of the Fall 2009 Gianfranco Ferré menswear collection designed by Tomasso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi, the newly named Creative Directors of the brand’s menswear division.
Already at the helm of the Gianfranco Ferré Women’s line, Aquila and Rimondi had taken the added responsibility of designing the men’s line. Their appointment is in line with the company’s objective of preserving and at the same time renewing the precious legacy and tradition that are the cornerstones of the Maison.
“The extension of the collaboration of Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi male lines reflects a natural evolution, a desire for continuity and consistency of style and implement key to enhancing the prestige of the House” said Michela Piva, CEO of Gianfranco Ferré SpA in a statement.
“Thomas and Roberto are two excellent designers, capable of understanding the needs of contemporary style and interpret Gianfranco Ferre with the expertise and enthusiasm required by an increasingly volatile and demanding,” Piva added.
Commenting on their new roles, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi said, “It is with great enthusiasm that we accept this new challenge, because this is our first collection of men. Our desire is to continue to translate the style of Gianfranco Ferre, including humans, through a more modern and in compliance with its unmistakable values that we love always.”
