DSquared Menswear Fall 2009
DSquared Menswear Fall 2009

MILAN, Jan 21, 2009 / FW/ — Designing Canadian twins Dean and Dan Caten have always been able to tap into true cultural heritage and pop culture. Sometimes they mix the two up for fun and that is exactly what they did for their Fall 2009 collection – the heritage of ballroom dancing and pop culture phenomena ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

Putting everything on overdrive with a stage set that is perhaps the replica of the ‘Staircase to Nowhere’ of the famed Fontainebleau in Miami Beach during the heydays of the Rat Pack, the Caten twins sent 21st century ballroom dancers clad in the now iconic DSquared jeans and their versions of the three-piece suit.

Proposing different variations of the tuxedo from the all white short cropped version to the long tail incarnation that can pass for a coat, Dean and Dan also made sure that amidst this upper crust gathering, the plebes are welcome with their more streetwise choices of blousons and cardigans.

The world might be in recession but it is no reason not to have fun. Trust Dean and Dan to remind everyone that a smile makes a rough day go by faster.
