Kenzo Menswear Fall 2009
Kenzo Menswear Fall 2009

PARIS, Jan 26, 2009 (Updated Feb 8, 2009) / FW/ — Though Antonio Marras has been the Creative Director of Kenzo womenswear for several years now, Fall 2009 marks his first ever menswear collection of the maison, which in effect makes him Kenzo’s Creative Director for both sides of the house.

Marras who designs menswear under his namesake label demonstrated that he could take Kenzo’s sensibilities to create romantic men’s clothing sans the exuberant colors and prints associated with the Kenzo women’s line.

Choosing Russia (not USSR, mind you) as his inspiration, Antonio Marras sent out slim trousers cut straight paired with coats in military declinations. Fabrics were either classic Italian wools or innovative Japanese fabrics.

Soft yet strong, military without the hint of violence, romantic but not saccharine, heroic but not Byronic, Antonio Marras just envisioned the perfect man.
