DALLAS, Feb 1, 2009 / FW/ — Fashion wins over recession as three emerging designers decided to pool their resources and share the catwalk when they unveil their Fall 2009 collections during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this month in New York.

Forging new grounds in fashion, Nicholas K, Sergio Davila and Mara Hoffman will be showing together on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Promenade at Bryant Park. With a back-to-back schedule – beginning with Nicholas K (showing women’s looks with a smaller selection of men’s looks), followed by Sergio Davila (showing men’s looks with a smaller amount of women’s) and Mara Hoffman (showing women’s ready-to-wear).

Both Mara Hoffman and Sergio Davila have previously shown at Bryant Park, however this will be the first time for designer Nicholas Kunz and her brother/business partner, Christopher Kunz, who are excited for their first chance at a major fashion week show.

“It feels really great to work with fellow designers,” said Nicholas. “It’s funny that at times of distress or uncertainty it has a way of bringing people together. I think the proposal of a group show was a smart and innovative idea, not only in helping younger designers reach a broader audience, but also to change the way designers think about collaborating and helping each other. I’m really excited to be a part of this”.

The impact of the current state of the economy has forced American designers to seek out more cost effective options to create a visual moment for the season and the important chance to present their collection to the fashion media, as well as retail buyers. This has led some to change their usual formats, such as showing a collection as a presentation, rather than on the runway or, as in this case, sharing a venue and splitting the production costs.
