PARIS, Mar 11, 2009 / FW/ — Models with black lipstick and their long hair parted at the middle wearing miniskirts and bondage boots; am I seeing the futuristic Morticia Adams?
Perhaps I’m imagining things. Paris Fashion Week has been filled with futurism, gothic and the 1980s. For Hussein Chalayan, his vision has always been leaning on the futuristic side, but a sexy futuristic Morticia Adams, I would have not guessed that one.
Proposing clothes that are molded on the model’s body, whether literally or figuratively, there was a sex element in Hussein Chalayan’s Fall 2009 collection. It might have been surprising at first, yet, come to think of it; even future earthlings will have to have sex unless they decide to reproduce via a Petri dish.
That said, a tongue-in-cheek attitude by bringing in Morticia Adams in the mix also added humor, a much needed element in this otherwise very serious Paris Fashion Week.
