NEW YORK, May 8, 2009 / FW/ — The month of May is very important for the television industry – being the month of the sweeps wherein ratings become more than just important but turns into an imperative. And starting on May 18, the TV upfront market is scheduled wherein ad agencies and TV executives are doing their ‘annual dance’ of buying and selling advertising spots.

But, it’s not just about network television right now in New York. The usual fundraising gala and red carpet awards are still happening.

The DKMS “Linked-Against Leukemia

The DKMS annual fundraising gala, “Linked-Against Leukemia” at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City held May 7, 2009 was graced by actresses Amy Ryan, Teresa Palmer, and Sarah Wynter.

Ms. Ryan wore a blush/black/white embroidered micro sequin viscose dress from the Spring 2009 Calvin Klein Collection. Ms. Ryan also wore blossom cube heel pumps, and carried a blush satin metal box clutch, both from Spring 2009 Calvin Klein Collection.

Ms. Palmer wore a lavender silk/wool strapless dress from the Spring 2009 Calvin Klein Collection. Ms. Palmer also wore vintage nude lizard t-strap sandals, and carried a silver metal envelope clutch from the Resort 2009 Calvin Klein Collection.

Ms. Wynter wore a blue silk chiffon key hole back dress from Pre-fall 2008 Calvin Klein Collection. Ms. Wynter also wore vintage blue python ankle wrap sandals, and carried a silver hammered metal box clutch from the Spring 2009 Calvin Klein Collection.

All were designed by Francisco Costa, Womenswear Creative Director for Calvin Klein Collection.

Additionally, they were joined by Tom Murry, President & CEO, Calvin Klein, Inc.; Italo Zucchelli, Men’s Creative Director, Calvin Klein Collection; and, Malcolm Carfrae, Executive Vice President, Global Communications for Calvin Klein, Inc. and gala chair member.

2009 Tony Awards Nominations

 

Meanwhile, last May 5, Cynthia Nixon attended the 2009 Tony Awards Nominations at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in New York City wearing a silver metallic yarn knit shirt and silver silk/wool pencil skirt both from the Spring 2009 Calvin Klein Collection, designed by Francisco Costa, the brand’s women’s Creative Director.

Operation Smile

Thursday night, May 7, Operation Smile’s 2009 event brought out charity supporting celebs doing their part to help children one smile at a time.

Guests included Today Show’s Natalie Morales, Ciara, Adrienne Bailon, Gretta Monahan, Sabine Singh, O.A.R.’s Benj Gershman, Sessilee Lopez, Ryan Leslie, Debbie Weinberg, Eli Mizrahi, Lucas Somoz, DJ Stacey Stylez, Angela Severiano, John Salley and Dhani Jones with performances by Vanessa Carlton and Bianca Ryan.
