Ailanto Spring 2010MADRID, Oct 21, 2009 / — Designing twins Inaki and Aitor Munoz, the brains behind the label Ailanto based their Spring 2010 collection on the pale images and worn-out photos of the Maharajas of ancient India.

The aesthetics are light in colour, spirit and fabrics, optimistic and filled with freshness. The look proposed is pleasant and relaxed and filled withstripes and fringes of colour, almost sporting as if it were an “Ailanto” team.

The silhouette is all-embracing, with garments that are tied or fastened with ribbons or cords, overlays and asymmetries.

Silks in dusty hues, irregular polka dots, laces, voiles with small elephants between trees and floral pictures, washed silk shantung and denim, trims of cotton strips that are torn and frayed.

Born in Bilbao, twin brothers Iñaki and Aitor Muñoz founded Ailanto in 1992 in Barcelona where both of them graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Barcelona University. Iñaki combined his Fine Arts studies with those of Fashion Design at IADE college.

The Ailanto universe is mainly visual, characterised by its colour combinations, the geometry of its shapes and its references to avant-garde artistic movements.
