marni_rubber05DALLAS & MILAN, Dec 17, 2009 / FW/ — With COP15 Copenhagen, the United Nations Climate Conference very much on the headlines, designer Consuelo Castiglioni of MARNI is already on her way to become carbon footprint neutral with her Rubber Jewellery Collection which is made from recycled rubber.

The result of Castiglioni’s continuous research of innovative and unexpected materials, the Marni Summer Edition Rubber Collection derives elements from automobile tires that are usually just sent to the landfill after they have outlived their usefulness.

Exploring urban techno and a dash of tribal, Consuelo Castiglioni created boules in rubber then added feathers for a dramatic effect. Geometric shapes and floral forms are the most important design elements of the collection.

The doll, which adorns necklaces and bracelet is the most distinctive motif of the MARNI SUMMER EDITION 2010.

Already available at all MARNI boutiques and at the MARNI Virtual store, the Marni Summer Edition Rubber Collection will be a great gift to the eco-friendly fashionista in your life.
