John Varvatos Men Fall 2010: 21st Century Romantic
MILAN, Jan 18, 2010 / FW/ — Held in a church and the catwalk lit by dripping candles, there was an immediate question in mind, “is this going to be a vampire themed show?”
With the military look as a very strong trend yesterday, having something from pop culture was a welcome thought. But it was not about vampires (a grateful sigh), it was about romance as John Varvatos sent out young men in dapper clothes, the 21st century equivalent of Mr. Darcy.
Now, please don’t think that this is about “Pride & Prejudice” because it is not. It is really more about its spirit – the layered clothes of knits, vest and jacket plus the scarf. Or a cable knit pullover sweater with a matching braided knit scarf.
A leather aviator jacket is worn under a single breasted coat while a toggle knitted cardigan hides a light knit tee.
It’s a tight and directional collection that’s just perfect these uncertain times.
