LONDON, Jun 14, 2010 / —- The World Cup hosts go head-to-head in the fashion stakes this week by taking on flamboyant Mexico in Very.co.uk’s World Cup fashion face-off!

Putting aside the football for a moment; fashion site Very.co.uk have come up with a unique twist on the footballing contest – putting the World Cup countries’ fashion styles against each other to see who will be crowned the best dressed. I’ve been avidly watching the competition since I first heard about it as I think it’s a great way to get ideas for new looks!

Up this week are hosts South Africa and Mexico with two unique fashion styles. The style for South Africa has a distinct sophisticated safari vibe with lots of animal prints, beading and textures while Mexico embodies the cowgirl vibe with suede pieces, denim, embroidery and of course – cowboy boots!

The South African look is full of neutral tones with splashes of bright colours and prints – I especially love the gorgeous maxi dress which is beige and mauve with splashes of bright coral, turquoise and animal print, giving it a real textured feel. Safari chic also features classic safari style shorts and a suedette dress, giving the look a more grown up feel.

Accessories have bright beading to add texture and colour to the outfits! I love this look and I can definitely see this being a favourite amongst fashion fans on the Very.co.uk site.

Mexico’s look brings together timeless cowgirl chic – with plenty of suede, leather, denim and fringing for a country look. Throw in some girly white tops with embroidery and crocheting and accessories with a metallic twist and you have a modern feminine twist on a classic look. I love the pretty feminine tops and the cowboy boots and the suede jacket is quite cute too, but I’m just not sure that Mexico can win this one. That said – there’ll be plenty of fans who love this look.

But don’t take my word for it – have a gander and cast your own vote for your favourite look at Very.co.uk!

I can’t wait to see what they come up with for the fashion face-off, which if my sources are correct will be Brazil vs Korea.
