The exhibition features 5 different ambiances -11 miniature dresses, 2 monumental installations of 40 design objects and 5 dresses “Haute Couture” and more than 300 original drawings, sketches and pictures of Maurizio Galante’s haute couture collections.

The exhibit asks the question, “… Is it possible to stretch a line between the standard, the popular, the duplicated and the unique? Can the basic live with the elaborate, the common with the rare?”

And it also answers, “The everyday is not necessarily about repetition and routine: it can be magical!”

In 2003 designer Maurizo Galante teamed up with trend forecast analyst and designer Tal Lancman, to form INTERWARE. Their crossover vision transverses the different design disciplines, from fashion to furniture, interiors, architecture and gardening. As the duo moves freely between disciplines, they revisit domains equipped with new understandings, insights and observations. The process results in a multi-faceted concept, with a subtle balance between the pragmatic and the irrational.

Another facet of INTERWARE’s philosophy proposes a series of objects/companions; expressive, amusing, and thought-provoking designs, bestowing owners with their friendly presence. Charged with anima and aura, they await to welcome us on our return home; a familiar friend, providing strength, comfort, and belonging.

Saint-Etienne’s Musée d’Art et d’Industrie welcomes Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman in a mutual wish to communicate a message that is particularly significant in times of passage between eras, when one is called to re-evaluate and redefine convention.

As INTERWARE’s philosophy strives to establish a balance between the industrial and an artisan’s true tradition, the exhibition presents a body of work that breathes warmth and tenderness in tandem with cutting-edge technology, which results in design that celebrates the best of both worlds.

The exhibition showcases the fruits of INTERWARE’s collaborations with well known editing companies and cultural institutions, as well as exclusive designs edited and manufactured at INTERWARE ‘s atelier.

In a generous and demonstrative manner, Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman invite us into their world, through a series of objects and exclusive designs created in their own distinctive language which illustrate the process of creation. They harmoniously marry the prosaic and the unique.
