NEW YORK Sept 27,2011 /FW/ Fashion and Film! Paola Ivana Suhonen gives Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week a different angle when it comes to approaching design. The Helsinki born designer is an artist at heart, a filmmaker by profession turned fashion designer. The strong trend of tribal inspiration was the perfect platform for the collection to travel right into next season.

What we saw, a play on inspiration from cross country road trips and all the loves stories along the way. The palate was mostly neutral tones in the brown family with a strong presence of primary blue with hints of yellow and red.  Fabrication was a wide array of lightweight tribal prints. Embroidery was a big part for making dresses and tops special. Other details featured draw sting waistlines and tribal headbands and wrap belts. Word travelers true touch included- manufactured and hand knits from Finland and Lapland. The collection featured simple grab and go kind of life style. Dresses and separates are easy to slip on and easy to move in. When it came to styling, there could be no right or wrong way to make it your own.
