NEW YORK, Sep 11, 2011/ FW/ — In a star-studded affair with Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Pitt sitting at the front row, Y-3 paid homage to London in honor of the city’s being the host of the upcoming 2012 Summer Olympic games.

Offering sport as the main theme, Y-3 took a tour of British style and Olympic sport wherein designer Yohji Yamamoto presented a unique take on Olympic style as he filtered it through the street aesthetics of modern day London.

Clever renditions of English checks, Mod-era print, rough-and-tumble workwear, and the Union Jack were the main fare thus taking center stage British fashion!

“To me, London style is a funky elegance,” said Mr. Yamamoto of the collection’s inspiration. “It’s not just downtown. It’s not just punk. It’s also polished. We tried to capture that.”
