Nanette Lepore: girly, stylish, a little edgy, and a little quirky, but all wearable. Once again she lived up to this reputation with her fall 2012 collection. Keeping with her line’s ability to mix and match, pieces can be layered or play solo. Sixties inspired, we saw thigh high skirts with great movement, cigarette pants, boxy jackets, and loose shorts with blazer combinations that were to die for. Lace, velvet, satin, and tweed can be thanked for perfecting the genius behind Lepore’s designs. Bright pops of color kept this collection cool with hues such as tomato, chartreuse, maroon, and cobalt. The pieces give a lady-like vibe, but with more quirk and originality through varying silhouettes. A hint of psychedelic charm and a touch of gypsy eccentrics gave a fresh attitude to Lepore’s designs. A vibrant curlicue pattern can be seen on outwear, pants, sweet dresses and tops. The footwear was almost unanimously metallic taking on different hues to match the coordinating outfit. As a rarity on the runway, Lepore featured multiple flats, a nice reprieve for fashionista feet. Overall Nanette Lepore produced a very sweet, wearable line for the fall.
