Miu Miu Menswear Spring 2002

MILAN, Jun 26, 2001/ — Miu Miu, Prada’s younger collection that for the past few seasons has seemed designed for nerds, has toughened up its act.

This season the sensitive souls designer Miuccia Prada has targeted of late have jumped in the ring and taken up kickboxing.

Miuccia’s Big Idea this season was the Bermuda boxer short. Boxing motifs ran throughout the collection, the most inventive so far of the Spring/Summer 2002 season being staged this week in Milan.

The silky Miu Miu Bermuda boxers come with elasticized waistbands. They are worn with paisley shirts, short little jackets and spiffy two-tone bowling shoes.

Miuccia’s new gymnasts fitted snugly into her fresh new silhouette for Miu Miu – trim, one-button jackets and easy flares that brushed the concrete floors of the custom-built exhibition space in Prada’s Milan headquarters.

When the Miu Miu pugilist gets dressed up it’s in stiff, flared Flamenco trousers, but with the boxer waistline sticking up above the top of the trousers – kind of like Marky Mark couture.
