“Ever since I was a child, I used to imagine designs for imaginary client. I have always loved to work in the world of luxury and design,” wrote Murad in his website and that passion led him to the world of haute couture that began in 1999 when he was invited to show in Rome’s Alta Roma. Two years later, in 2001, he debuted on the Paris catwalk during couture week.

Murad’s charming and innovative mix of Eastern suggestions and European sensibilities became an instant success with the very discerning couture clients, many of them coming from the Middle East.

In a time when the Chambre Syndicale estimates that there are less than 2,000 couture clients worldwide (update: by 2009, that number had dwindled to about 120), having some of them as loyal clients is worth a mint to any designer especially when word-of-mouth advertising is the best way to attract them.

To cater to his clients in a worldwide scale, Zuhair Murad maintains two boutiques – one in Beirut and one in Paris both of which offers not only his couture services but also his prêt-a-porter, accessories and eyewear lines.

Zuhair Murad also collaborates with Mango for his Zuhair Murad for Mango collection.
