NEW YORK, Sep 15, 2003 (updated Dec 20, 2008) / FW/ — Designer Amir Slama launched Rosa Chá in 1988 and it became one of the best known beachwear labels in Brazil.

After conquering his native country with his sexy and very revealing swimwear, Amir Slama entered the U.S. market in 1997, first in Los Angeles and then to the Big Apple in 2000, where he also shows during New York Fashion Week.

Appealing to a younger fashionable clientele with it turbo charged runway shows featuring supermodels and its flashy advertising campaign, the brand is now recognized worldwide and being sold in North America and Europe.

Known for his sultry and exotic designs, Amir Slama usually presents very strong concepts of Brazilian culture in his collections.

During the Spring / Summer 2003 season, he launched his second line, Sais, another beachwear line that has the same quality as its sister brand, but “sweet looking” instead of sultry.
