LOS ANGELES, Dec 11, 2003/ FW/ — She has topped the music charts for a long time, and now Madonna is topping the Best Sellers List.

Her second children book, “Mr. Peabody’s Apples,” which was released last November 10 instantly debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. Madonna’s first book, “The English Roses” which was released last September 15 also debuted No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Mr. Peabody’s Apples” is a story about the power of words and the importance of teachers, while “The English Roses” teaches children the importance of looking beyond a surface sheen.

Both books have appeared in 37 languages and have been distributed in more than 110 countries worldwide.

And like all authors, Madonna is goes on tour for her books. This time, she is not singing though. She reads.

Last Tuesday, Madonna made an exclusive West Coast appearance at Borders’ Westwood store in Los Angeles and signed 250 copies of her children’s books to fans pre-selected through local radio station contests.

Additionally, Madonna held an intimate story time where she read her No. 1 best-selling book, Mr. Peabody’s Apples, to a select group of thirty children from the Community Magnet School who achieved placement in the school’s “Above and Beyond” program.

“Madonna has once again proven her versatility with these well-written stories that not only entertain, but teach children valuable life lessons,” commented Tami Heim, president of Borders.

The English Roses and Mr. Peabody’s Apples are the first two books in a series of five that Madonna has written. The third book is scheduled to be released in spring 2004.

With the success of her written words, will Madonna come out with the recorded version of her books?

If she does, then she can look forward for another Grammy, this time, not on being a singer/songwriter, but for the Spoken Word Grammies.
