DALLAS, Apr 5, 2005/ FW/ — When Kimberly Newport-Mimran started Pink Tartan in 2002, her design philosophy was simple: ‘a quality collection that blended sophisticated fashion with feminine details.’
Little did she know that her idea would become a Canadian fashion explosion that in 3 years since its inception, the brand is now sold nationwide, both in Canada and the U.S., and will be carried by Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom plus a plethora of specialty boutiques that includes Stanley Korshak in Dallas.
But of course, her extensive experience in the fashion business gave Kimberly Mimran an edge. A native of Niagara, Ontario, Canada, she studied fashion merchandising and manufacturing at George Brown College in Toronto.
After graduation, she worked for Club Monaco where she would stay for 8 years and then moved to Caban where she stayed for 3 years. Feeling that she was ready to strike out on her own, she launched Pink Tartan with her husband Joseph in 2002.
From then on, she has gone from strength to strength after the label’s initial debut in Canada, expanding to New York in 2004 when they opened a showroom in Manhattan during fall of that year.
A truly modern-day-woman, Kimberly Mimran balances family life with her work. A wife, mother and designer, she designs for women who leads a similar lifestyle she has.
Understanding the challenges of a career woman who is also trying to raise a family, she creates clothes that women can relate to while building a timeless wardrobe of elegance and femininity.
Pink Tartan’s Spring / Summer 2005 collection, which are available in stores right now is a testament to Kimberly Mimran’s design philosophy.
Sportive with a French flair, the silhouettes can go from work to shopping then running errands while also carpooling as den mother of school age children.
The white French artist jacket with black piping matched with a Capri length pants is a perfect go-anywhere do anything ensemble that can take a woman from doing lunch to having an early dinner.
Sticking to tailored looks while opting for rounded shoulders on coats, jackets, including dresses give the collection a feminine touch. Adding bows that serve as belts and the soft draping of the fabric add fluidity to the silhouttes.
Classical cuts with French aesthetics; Pink Tartan is destined to be a favorite among women of all ages.
