PARIS, Mar 30, 2007/ FW/ — Belgian designer Kris Van Assche has been named as the new Creative Director for Dior Homme, according to an announcement last Thursday from Dior.

A former assistant of Hedi Slimane, both as Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche and at Dior Homme, Van Assche went solo during the Paris Menswear Fall 2005 season, launching his eponymous label at the same time.

Immediately becoming the newest darling of the Paris fashion crowd with his stylish, sartorially detailed wardrobe for men for all ages, Van Assche also played with unisex dressing sending both men and women wearing identical or complimentary clothes on the runway.

Choosing Kris Van Assche as the heir of Hedi Slimane at Dior Homme is a logical choice for Dior. Though he intimately knows the DNA of Dior Homme as created by Hedi, expect a few changes on the silhouettes.

Van Assche has a different take on menswear, and he would definitely put his fingerprints on it when he debuts on the runway for Dior Homme this coming June.
