GF Ferre ChildrenMILAN, Jan 17, 2008 / FW/ — The playground just became a fashion milieu with GF Ferré’s children’s wear and shoe collection for the loves of our lives. Unveiled today at Pitti Bimbo, Italy’s largest exhibition dedicated to children’s clothing and accessories, GF Ferré Fall 2008 /Winter 2009 collection combined form and function to fulfill the practicality needs of these active and petite fashionistas.

Using GF Ferré’s signature colors of black, red and natural white, new textures are being introduced with original mixes of fabrics such as meltons, washed flannels, soft cottons, shiny/mat nylon microweaves, cotton jerseys and ultralight wools.

Coats and jackets are ‘smarter’ in the sense that they keep the wearer warm while the fabrics are actually lighter in weight that its predecessor. Wool/cashmere sweaters in vanisé and mouliné effects with micro and macro stripings are perfect compliments to the coats and jackets.

Against this backdrop, Prince of Wales patterns and shaded shirting checks stand out nicely. Also shaded, blurred and varnished are the monochromatic prints. As always, details – small metal logo plaques, contrast piping, wool knit logo embroideries – make for a distinctive plus.

GF Ferre ChildrenAn unusually elegant accent identifies boy’s suits in washed mélange flannel or in avion blue microweave velvet. Idem for the powder pink girl’s dresses in shaded velvet, satin, cashmere, complete with pearl and paillette embroidered collar.

Shoes for both boys and girls are practical and original. Casual shoes for boys are ultra comfortable, light and easy with strap closures, plus contrast piping and shiny/mat effects for accent.

The dressier models feature original fastenings, leather prints, logo embroideries or high-frequency monograms. Somewhere between street and sky, slender combat and desert boots come complete with topstitching, laces, buckles, patchwork effects, sheepskin edging.

For girls, both high boots and desert models have logo quilting, allover prints, fur trim, strass and micro/macro paillette detailing. And then buckles, bows, pendants, lurex embroideries. Sneakers with logo embroidery are simply irresistible in a combination of rawhide, patent leather, silk-screened calf.

Thanks to studded bows, metal logo buttons and buckles, ballerinas too are as charming as ever.
