Iodice Fall 2008
Iodice Fall 2008

NEW YORK, Feb 8, 2008 / FW/ — Historically presenting at Sao Paulo, Valdemar Iódice decided to take his show to New York and instantly became one of the Big Apple’s Brazilian darlings. (Watch out Alexandre Herchcovitch!)

Iodice’s sleek graphic designs fit well in New York’s urban landscape that actually can go either uptown or downtown, plus the club kids, a very important niche market when trying to enter the New York fashion scene.

Technically, Iodice did not propose anything new in terms of silhouettes. But his micro-mini skirts and snug fitting jackets are so chic, you just want to grab them and wear them immediately. Talk about instant gratification!

It’s also great to see some knitwear on the runway. Iodice started as a knitwear company way back into the 1980s and then expanded with a fashion line ‘Iodice Collection’ which was the one that was shown on the runway.

Though some fashion grouse would say that the silhouettes had been seen before, style pundits would say that styling was near perfection. With that in mind, for his freshman season in New York, we could say that Iodice passed with flying colors.
