Reem AcraNEW YORK, Feb 9, 2008 / FW/ — Sitting by a Macy’s buyer during the Reem Acra show has its benefits. Finally, this fashionista could see what buyers are looking for when looking at a collection. And from the list on the buyer’s hands, she might as well buy the whole collection.

‘I like the colors,’ the Macy’s buyer told me after the show. ‘The first exit, the halter degradé in rust red done with a bias cut with the silver belt is going to be a good seller, and that’s just the first exit!’ she exclaimed.

Comparing notes with her, I realized that we basically noticed the same things, like the Byzantine-inspired graphics on the placket of the coat, the mini shawl/cape that reaches just below the bust line and made of layers of flowers made of fabric, the Chino-style coat jacket paired with an A-line skirt with high slit, the tent dress in midnight blue adorned with brass/golden circlets and all the gowns that closed the show.

Everything was lovely and it was really hard to choose favorites. The gowns alone warrant mentioning – the halter-neck gown in royal purple with asymmetrical hemline, the beige floor length frock with black embroidery, the empire strapless red gown with Byzantine-inspired embroidery.

Thank you Reem Acra for making women dream!
