NEW YORK, Apr 20, 2008 /FW/ — Built by Wendy designer Wendy Mullin follows her highly successful first book Sew U, which focused on sewing with woven fabrics, with SEW U: Home Stretch, a DIY guide to creating your own fun and hip fashion.

Scheduled to be released on May 2, 2008, SEW U: Home Stretch (Little, Brown and Company; $25.99), teaches the creatively inclined how to make perfect T-shirts, dresses, and hoodies, all with soft knit fabric.

Wendy will take your sewing to the next level, providing step-by-step instructions (for sewing both with serger and without) and patterns directly from her own studio. And with tips on how to alter T-shirts and other clothes you already have, Wendy will soon have you revamping your wardrobe to make fabulous custom creations.

As with the first Sew U, SEW U: Home Stretch includes three exclusive Simplicity patterns. Using these three patterns, Wendy will walk the aspiring designer from basics of “Knits and Bolts: Getting to Know Stretch Fabrics” (Chapter 2) to “Teeing Off: An Eight-Step Program for the World’s Easiest T-shirt” (Chapter 6), right through to “Recycling: Giving Old Knits a New Lease on Life” (Chapter 10).

Wendy wrote the book with Eviana Hartman with illustrations by Beci Orpin.
