DALLAS, May 4, 2008 / FW/ — Seven womenswear collections and two menswear collections were presented from ten graduates of the Academy of Art University, with two of them from the Knitwear Design program. Marie Potesta, one of the Fashion and Knitwear Design graduates, she utilized the ideas of Japanese art forms origami and noshi (a good luck token made of folded strips of paper) by manipulating her woven fabrics.
Reworking known techniques with an experimental bent, the Dearborn, Michigan native also incorporated Op Art, making it more dramatic with the use of black and white.
Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia S.p.A and Loro Piana sponsored the yarn for Marie’s knitwear collection.
