DALLAS, May 5, 2008 / FW/ — One of the two Academy of Art University graduates who presented a menswear collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2008 season in New York, Shady N. R. Elias was influenced by pop culture drawing his inspiration from eclectic sources.

Born Khartoum, Sudan, raised in Cairo, Egypt and currently studying and living here in the United States, Shady N. R. Elias is a citizen of the world. Hence, it’s not surprising that the song “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” by the Audio Bullys with vocals by Nancy Sinatra influenced the mood of his collection with the silhouette was inspired by the Japanese anime TV show Grendizer and Islamic military costume &architecture.

It is as if the Elias dresses a man whose weight of the world rests on his shoulders, especially with the added influence of the work of Shady Abdel Salam, a famous Egyptian cinematographer, director and costume designer on Elias’ work.
