John Richmond Menswear Spring 2009

MILAN, Jun 25, 2008 / FW/ — One of the pioneers of the rock & roll look for clothes, John Richmond continues to be true to his label’s beginnings and this time, he is going for the blues and folk singers creating clothing if Bob Dylan and Lee Dorsey are just starting their careers today.

So, how would John Richmond design these music greats? In slim pants that fit just perfect and snug fitting jackets with shoulder boards. Sounds military? Not really. The inspiration might have been the high school band uniform.

But, this is no ordinary ‘high school band uniform.’ In fact, it is very far from it. First, the masterful tailoring sets it apart. Second, the grays and slates including the pinks and the blues make just perfect for stage, and for the street!

Two-tone jackets with the color block made to look like a wide placket while the pullover vest with a V-neck was given small buttons arranged like sequins. Cardigans in color blocks of gray and black is a real head turner whether on stage or in a restaurant.

Adorable and highly covetable, this collection will surely make John Richmond’s fans go wild, and earn him new ones. What is the best thing about this collection? Musical artists can actually wear them on stage and regular guys can actually wear them in their daily lives!
