PARIS, Jul 6, 2008 / FW/ — Anyone who knows anything about fashion knows that Paris is considered, by most, the fashion capital of the world. To attend the shows in Paris is a chance that any young person at my age would kill to have.

So, after having gone to the shows during the first week of July, the parties, the presentations, I have some new thoughts on Paris fashion week. The luster, the magic, the romance is all still there, but it is evident that the industry is hitting a plateau. I think the designers are wonderfully talented, but few collections this season really stood out as innovative or inspiring.

Haute Couture is an animal that no one, other than those who first created it, truly understands. It is literally translated as “high sewing,” yet it means so much more.

Haute Couture is a title that few designers have the privilege of giving to their work. It is one that instantly heightens the value, both monetary and social, of the fashions created by a designer. It is also what keeps the fashion industry living and evolving thanks to its creativity and refinement.

This season, the Haute Couture designers in Paris brought some new ideas, yet also some lackluster ones.
