Rubin Singer on the Runway Fall 2008

LOS ANGELES, Aug 15, 2008 / FW/ — Signing his fourth collection for his eponymous label, Rubin Singer continues his luxurious bent and melds it with 1940s influences for his Spring 2009 collection.

Inspired by exotic destinations, luxurious sea travel and the rugged, angular forms of marine vessels, Rubin Singer crafted a spectacular collection contrasting feminine softness against of the rigor of the 1940s and Singer’s intrinsic structure.

The Post-World War II manifestation adds a gaunt severity to the poppy stripes and polka dots of carefree luxury cruising, finding a glorious disparity between beauty and drama.

Trained at Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass, and a family lineage of Russian couturiers, Rubin Singer’s DNA almost guarantees he would design dramatic clothes.
