Abaete Spring 2009
Abaete Spring 2009

NEW YORK, Sep 6, 2008 / FW/ — Laura Poretzky’s Spring 2009 collection was a combination of what every girl wants to be- a bad girl, and what every girl inherently is- a good girl.  This combination of ideas produced interesting contrasts of edgy details and girly silhouettes, the perfect dichotomy.

Imagine if minimalism could be eclectic- clean lines and crisp colors paired unexpectedly together to create a collection anyone could wear.  Each piece that walked down the runway conjured up an image of what one could wear in the summertime on either coast.
The geometric printed cardigans and 1950s inspired bathing costumes were feminine without being frilly.  Intricate stitch work and bondage-type draped mini-dresses were signature marks of this collection.

Abaeté is also known for its line of shoes for Payless.  This spring we can expect to see some amazing, high-end shoes on the shelves.  Super-strappy stilettos in suede paired with sheer, colored tights or knee-length leggings add an edge to Abaeté’s ultra-feminine skirt ensembles.

Abaeté, embodies the spirit of its designer, Laura Poretzky, by capturing French femininity, Brazilian sensuality, and American simplicity.  Laura began Abaeté in 2004 with a well-received, Japanese inspired resort collection.  The first Abaeté for Payless collection hit the runways in February of 2005, for the Fall 2006 collection.  Laura has experienced great success and has been received extremely well by both retailers and the media.
