Agatha Ruiz de la Prada Spring 2009

MADRID, Sep 17, 2008 / FW/ — It was in Paris that FashionWindows first saw Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, but it was here in Madrid where she made her initial inroads in the fashion world in 1981 when she presented her first women’s fashion collection.

Her collection swept the Spanish fashionistas off their feet that Agatha Ruiz de la Prada opened her first studio/boutique in the Spanish capital soon after. From then on, she had gone from strength to strength, participating in fashion shows in Barcelona, and also making her debut on the Milan and Paris catwalks.

For Spring 2009, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada lived up to expectations. Inspired by clowns and the comic universe, she also made a firm commitment to recycling and sustainable fashion by choosing ecological fabrics and actually re-using fabrics from garments from previous seasons.

Exaggerated silhouettes gave rise to avant-garde looks that surprisingly enough, some of them are actually wearable. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada actually hit the perfect pitch between conceptual designs and wearability.

Flowers, spots, degradé and hand-painted effects adorn the bi/tricolour garmentsThus, behind the lenses of exagerrated glasses, the models turn into season-less heroines emerging from the paper and rounding off their total look with fun colored plastic accessories and metallised cork wedged shoes combined with patent leather and grosgrain ribbons.
