NEW YORK, Sep 9, 2008 / FW/ — Although Carolina Herrera’s press notes said that she was aiming to provide contrast between ethereal femininity and lineal simplicity, what she achieved is a level of sensuality and sophistication that made her Spring 2009 collection stand out among the rest.

Returning to her signature style of feminine frocks and blouses that featured blousy ruffling, and a bright color palette that consisted of persimmon, hibiscus and marigold, the collection was an apparent winner after the first five exits.

Dress suits featured swingy jackets paired with cigarette pants while tea dresses came in ‘50s-style full skirts. Then, she sent a streamlined pantsuit in red that was followed by gowns full of frills cascading down that obviously they only have only one place to go – the red carpet.

In short, this is the quintessential Carolina Herrera that we have loved for a long time. And after a chaotic fashion weekend that included pouring rain on Saturday, Carolina Herrera provided a balm of serenity and beauty that made everything worth it.
