Ermanno Scervino Spring 2009

MILAN, Sep 22, 2008 / FW/ — For Ermanno Scervino, Milan fashion week is the second debut of parts of his Spring Summer 2009 collection. The designer’s first debut was last week, during the Miss Italia pageant as the contestants competed in the evening wear section. The same strapless mini-dress that the new Miss Italia wore, was just a tease of the collection to come.
With a skilled hand at draping and tailoring Ermanno Scervino presented a collection that was romantic rock and technical couture all at the same time. His elegant style captures the Italian mentality by being so on top of trends and staying absolutely classic and luxurious all at the same time. Light fabrics were draped into beautiful and delicate folds that lead to forms of flowers and clusters of ruffles.
Dresses were short and colors were basic, so that the eye could concentrate on the art work within all the fabrics details. Tone on tone accordion pleated fabric worked as texture contrasts to the twists and turns of silky ones as pieces of transparency hung from hem lines. Dresses were wild and simple at the same time but always extremely elegant.
On the darker side of the collection were fringed rock pieces, black shiny mini dresses and pants. These ultimate rock pieces were contrasted and toned down by the floor length transparent kaftan dresses. The collection went from very architectural to softer with the fringe and then to flowy with the kaftans.
Suits reminisced of the 80’s as pants were slim and dresses either ultra tight or ultra loose. Thick bangles accessorized soft looks as strappy shoes brought on the rock inspirations. The collection did an amazing job at staying completely elegant and modern at the same time.
