NEW YORK, Sep 12, 2008 / FW/ — Presenting an all swimsuit catwalk show is always a challenge for a designer. Keeping it upbeat and exciting for 15 minutes while the story is told via the same or very similar silhouette is a big hurdle. Gideon Oberson passed all that, unveiling a swimwear collection that should be an essential part of a woman’s wardrobe.

Oberson, who said in is press notes, “For me, dressing for the beach is no different than dressing for a night out,” was true to his word.

Sending out one-piece and two-piece swimsuits adorned with gold anchors or done in prints, when a wrap or a pareo or a skirt is thrown over them, a whole new look is created. Oberson designed the swimsuits and its accessories to fully complement and/or complete each other like a jigsaw puzzle.

Noteworthy for the show is the background music wherein a jazzy rendition of ‘I Will Survive’ was part of the background music. A familiar tune with a different beat, it was a big hit to the audience.

Perhaps, that was also Gideon Oberson’s plan – the familiar silhouettes of the swimwear enhanced with different details.
