NEW YORK, Sep 10, 2008 / FW/ — Two days before Ralph Lauren unveiled his Spring 2009 collection, the American designer announced that French supermodel and actress Laetitia Casta will be the face of Notorious, Ralph Lauren’s newest women’s fragrance.
Notorious debuts in the U.S. this month with a print campaign starring Laetitia Casta, photographed by renowned photographer Michael Thompson, plus a Notorious commercial film, directed by renowned Hong Kong-based filmmaker Wong Kar-wai.
One of the original supermodels, Laetitia was discovered on a beach in Corsica when she was 15 years old. Taking the fashion world by storm, a new star was born instantly as the young model graced the pages of magazines and won the hearts of the French people.
Within 10 months of her discovery, she was already being referred by just one name, either by her first name Laetitia, or the emblematic La Casta. During the course of her career, she has worked with such famed photographers as Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Ellen von Unwerth, Gilles Bensimon and the late Herb Ritts. She has graced the covers of over 100 fashion magazines around the world.
For Notorious, La Casta was hand-selected to embody the sexy, intriguing Notorious woman, whose image was inspired by the iconic actresses of the golden era of Hollywood film.
“Laetitia’s glamour, daring and powerful femininity make her the perfect face for this seductive fragrance,” says Guillaume de Lesquen, President, Worldwide, Ralph Lauren Fragrances. “She is classically beautiful, but lives her life in a completely modern way. Laetitia is Notorious.”
