Lie Sang Bong Spring 2009
Lie Sang Bong Spring 2009

PARIS, Sep 29, 2008 / FW / — A delightful high concept collection from Lie Sang Bong that leaned heavily towards futurism that sometimes bordered on sci-fi, but never crossing the line.

It began as colorful geometric prints, same thing as what you see in a kaleidoscope, on tunics and sheath dresses, even an occasional pantsuit set and jumpsuit shorts. Then it slowly morphed into Mondrian-inspired prints.

Suddenly, they became strapless cocktail dresses with ruches on the bodice and sculpted skirts with asymmetrical hemlines. Then, Lie Sang Bong slightly changed the flow by making the three-quarter sleeves of a coatdress also sculpted. And Lie Sang Bong was just getting started.

After that, he sent sleeveless shirt dresses with triple layer collars and floor length frock in degradé blue adorned with vertical ruffles that start from the neck and ends on the hemline.

Continuing to manipulate the color blue, Lie Sang Bong then created starbursts in monochromatic shades of blue. But his coup de grace is the final exit, a black gown created using triangles and diamonds.

It would be presumptuous of me to say that the last exit is haute couture, but it will also be remiss of me not to mention that Lie Sang Bong had to use haute couture techniques to create it.
