NEW YORK, Sep 10, 2009 / FW/ — Nicole Miller introduced her collection with a melodious mix of balancing exotic prints with individuality and spirit.
The inspiration for the collection evolved from “good-luck symbols from voodoo flags”. In true Nicole Miller style, prints were ever present. The color pallette consisted of deep coral, pineapple, avocado, pomagranate, mango and fuschia purple. Also blended through the collection were soft hues of grey, black and chocolates.
Exposed shirt tail hems peaked beneath black twisted racerback tanks. The dresses were mostly in knit silk jersey, beautiful yet low maintence in care. Blazers with exposed seams with bound edges gave a fashion flare to a mannish concept.
Pants were bubbled, ballooned and cropped.
One surprise revisit was the boyish tailored grey trenchwaist coat… Ultra feminine when paired over a printed silk day dress preseving a hint of masculine femininity. Dresses had a keen duality feature incorporating tanks and halters twisting at the center neckline which were very body concious and fresh.
Fabrics ranged from black tech viscose, lycra jersey, and linen to light silks and crepes. Asymmetry dominated the runway in all forms from shoulders to hemlines. The mosiac-esque elevated runway made the details of the garments come to life.
Closing the show with a look that left onlookers and fashionistas alike wanting just a taste more, floated a pineapple linen viscose gown with one crystal beaded strap….result yummy!
Miller has set the tone for a worldly flavor as the new bold statement for spring.
