Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009
Roberto Cavalli Spring 2009

MILAN, Sep 27, 2008 / FW/ — A life-sized ancient Rome garden is Roberto Cavalli’s idea of Eden where Eve rules. Sweet and demure (relatively new adjectives for Roberto Cavalli), floral chiffon pastels and hand painted prints, the Florentine designer’s vision of modern day Eve is not a vamp but a sophisticated temptress with very urbane manners.

She’s not country nor prairie (though there are some references), she’s not a metro girl nor is she Victorian (again, there are also references). She is all of them; she is Eve after all.

Mini dresses shaped like crinolines and fluid chiffon frocks with colors ranging from the now ubiquitous beige to the more dramatic neon shades of green, yellow and pink, plus of course the obligatory black and white.

But, don’t think that any of these are clichés because this is a new facet of Roberto Cavalli. The signature sexy looks that we have come to expect is balanced by the new sweetness and demureness that the Florentine designer is introducing.

Perhaps, Roberto Cavalli is reinventing his label, adding something to the DNA to make it fresh and exciting. And it’s working!!!
