Rosa Cha Spring 2009
Rosa Cha Spring 2009

NEW YORK, September 8, 2008/ FW/-  The gorgeous new Spring/Summer collection for Portuguese designer, Rosa Chá, is the “black tie” of swimwear.  Inspired by exotic locales like Rio De Janeiro, the pieces in this collection are full of vibrant color, sexy shapes, and interesting details.

Swarovski crystals adorn a series of bathing suits that are fancy enough for a black tie affair, sexy enough for the beaches of South America and perfectly designed.  Not only did Rosa Chá incorporate interesting ruching and asymmetrical elements, but we also saw some unusual bathing suit shapes.  Inspired by the glamour of the 1950s, we saw several bottoms with more widely cut sides and fuller bottoms as well as many décolage-bearing bandeaus.

The keyhole neckline used in a bathing suit top was gorgeous, as were the interesting cut-outs in the backs of the one piece suits.  We loved the contrasting textures and sexy, one-shoulder suits, especially in coral and taupe.  The plunging necklines on the one-piece suits entirely made up for any sort of conservatism one might hope for in a one-piece.  They were just as hot, if not more so, than the two pieces.

In addition to the spicy bathing suits parading the runway, Rosa Chá presented several cover-ups and breezy tunics.  The prints were tropical and the silhouettes romantic and glamorous.
