Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2009

PARIS, Oct 5, 2008 / FW/ — Jean Paul Gaultier changed two things at his Spring 2009 show: three dancers opened the show and in the finale, he took his bow with two of his assistants.

Gaultier, who has been collaborating with choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for her new show ‘Snow White’ had been fascinated by the dance. “To me, clothes on a hanger are simply still lives. It’s only when someone wears them that they come alive,” Gaultier told reporters after the show.

With a trio of dancers from EGPC opening the show, a vibrant energy could be felt from the very start. After the dancers, Gaultier sent out models wearing swimsuits and capes, adding to the animation because how can we resist Caped Crusaders especially if they are beautiful women?

The sportive atmosphere stayed, as Gaultier sent out jumpsuits and pantsuit sets with its jackets given exaggerated shoulders. Jersey dresses with asymmetrical shoulders or hemlines were thrown into the mix reminding everyone that we were in a Gaultier show!
