PARIS, Oct 4, 2008 / FW/ — Known for her colorful candy sweet dresses, Tsumori Chisato played with volume this season mixing polka dots, stripes and geometric figures that surprisingly worked well together.

From the crinoline shaped dresses to the pantsuit set cinched at the waist with an obi-sized belt, it seemed that Chisato gave us the manga / bohemian interpretation of Alice in Wonderland.

In a season, where pop culture is a big influence among designers, as seen in the catwalks of New York, London, Milan and Paris, Chisato never left her self-proclaimed fashion genre. In fact, we can even surmise that the Japanese designer is actually one of the pioneers in this field of fashion.

Marvel Comics characters have influenced American and European designers for obvious reasons. Being Japanese, it is very natural that Tsumori Chisato is going to be influenced by manga and anime.

In fact, manga and anime is already a big part of the American pop culture, and it can also be added that it has also reached Europe.

Fashion is changing in terms of silhouettes and also in influence. Tsumori Chisato’s vision is arguably on the forefront of this new movement. If you don’t believe me, just ask any gamer!
