PARIS, Nov 19, 2008 / FW/ — Graduating from The Arnhem Academy of Art and Design with a BA in Fashion Design in 1995, Dutch designer Francisco van Benthum worked as an assistant to Joe Casely-Hayford in London right after graduation.

Two years later, when van Benthum was only 25 (he was born in 1972), the emerging design talent launched his first label with Michael Keuper, aptly naming it KEUPR/ van BENTM.

Not one to sit on his laurels, Francisco van Benthum went back to The Arnhem Academy to finish in MA in Fashion Design, becoming a member of Class 1999. After getting his Masters Degree, van Benthum participated in projects and exhibitions worldwide. Entering France’s prestigious International Festival des Arts de la Mode in Hyeres, the young designer won two prizes.

Since 2002, he had worked for SO by Alexander van Slobbe and PUMA. In 2002, he launched his first menswear collection under his own name.

Francisco Van Benthum takes traditional men’s wardrobe as a starting point. Within the outline of the traditional menswear silhouette, van Benthum shifts proportions and adds altered elements based on male stereotypes.

His menswear collection that consists of both formal and casual offerings, including accessories is sold nationwide at The Netherlands. The first Francisco Van Benthum boutique opened in January 2008 in Amsterdam.
