Antonio Alvarado Spring 2009

MADRID, Jan 13, 2009 / FW/ — A poetic take on the Spanish word ‘Corte’, Antonio Alvarado mixed his designing prowess with his sense of humor for Spring 2009 as he gave his audience the: Haircut (Corte de pelo). Flipping the bird (Corte de mangas). Nail cutter (Cortaúñas). Ice-cream wafer (Corte de helado). Dressmaking (Corte y confección). Royal court (Corte real). Roadblock (Carretera cortada). Coffee with a dash of milk (Café cortado. Cortado con leche). Suit cut (Corte de traje). Lawnmower (Cortacésped). Firebreak (Cortafuegos). Killjoy (Cortarrollos). Windbreak (Cortavientos). Short-sighted (Corto de vista). Thick (Corto de mente). Short circuit (Cortocircuito). Over and out (Corto y cambio).

And Antonio Alvarado the poet said, “I’ve finished with sadness. I’ve finished with black. I’ve finished with opaqueness. I’m starting anew. Short very short. Long very long. Saint-Laurent long. Different volumes. Multilayers. Fabrics with textured finishes. Lady Falcon. Vertigo. Chained up. Over and out.”
