Agatha Ruiz de la Prada Fall 2009

MADRID, Feb 26, 2009 / FW/ — In this occasion, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada focuses her inspiration on a contemporary art gallery. It’s not difficult to recognize the brushstrokes of her favourite painters in the patterns and designs of this collection.

The models slide trough a museum where, with abstract paintings as a background, there appear patterns inspired in Jackson Pollock, Vasarely’s compositions, Piet Mondrian’s geometry or Yayoi Kusuma’s scandalous points. In short, colour and forms…Contemporary art to “agathasize” simple dresses or knitwear t-shirts.

For the daytime, permanent prominence for t-shirts with new reinterpretations of Agatha’s themes. Dresses with lots of cuts, patchwork, different fabrics stripes, crochet applications or fake fur in the neck and pockets. And even leggings for the most daring.

For the evening, quilted dresses with “chester” buttons, ecological astrakhan in bright colours (to show that it’s not authentic fur, a fabric absolutely forbidden for “the designer of the Greens”). And for more important occasions, long and large volumes
Dresses with folds, flounces or multicolour stripes.

As for the accessories, we can find the same themes as in the rest of the collection. Flounce handbags or combining leathers with extremely high-heeled shoes, in patchwork, and also high-heeled boots with which the models, dressed by Agatha, become undisputed catwalk queens.
