NEW YORK, Feb 20, 2009 / FW/ — Held last Monday, the only sign of the recession at Carolina Herrera’s Fall 2009 runway show is that you can actually wear to work the majority of the daywear pieces.
Other than that, Ms. Herrera never strayed from her signature uptown looks that for the past several years have been peppered with an artistic bent.
Take the 18th century decorative elements she used as adornments for example. The copper belts used to emphasize tiny waists and copper hardware used on sleeves are reminiscent of architectural details used in buildings during the 1700s. Their form and shape perfectly complements the ultra modern and fitted silhouettes that strangely enough, in a very delightful way made the collection futuristic without any hint of sci-fi.
