Gianfranco Ferre Fall 2009
Gianfranco Ferre Fall 2009

MILAN, Feb 28, 2009 / FW/ — At Gianfranco Ferré, it was one of those strange fashion moments where you don’t know whether you will smile or cry because the collection is so beautiful. Co-creative Directors Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi were successful in infusing their own style with the signature architectural silhouettes of Gianfranco Ferré without changing the maison’s DNA.

Pagoda shoulders, that is reminiscent of the 1980s, but they are so exaggerated that it is nearer Martin Margiela’s rendition than the eighties. Luxe fabrics that included duchesse silk, mink and astrakhan plus the intricate detailing also traced the late designer Gianfranco Ferré’s haute couture background.

Aquilano and Rimondi did not leave anything to chance. Belts were made of ebony; alligator skin for purses; and suede and Murano glass for shoes.
