LOS ANGELES, Feb 22, 2009 / FW/ — What’s with “F” words? From fashion week to film, February is a busy month. This is Oscar Week (or better yet, Awards Week) in the Los Angeles area and this town is hopping with all the parties.

Now, how can the actors attend New York Fashion Week and then be here for the parties? Jetting is the answer. That is what Mena Suvari has been doing. One night she’s at Fifth Avenue attending the Moralleto store opening and the next thing you know, she’s at the Piaget lounge for the Spirit Awards.

I don’t blame her though. Beautiful jewelry and beautiful watches are a girl’s best friends.

Still it was Mickey Rourke who was the star of the show when he garnered the Best Male Lead for the movie “The Wrestler.” Let’s just say that it is arguably the biggest comeback for an actor in Hollywood’s history.

Before the ceremonies started guests hanged out at the Piaget lounge were the Swiss watchmaker and jeweler Piaget has its beautiful high jewellery and watches on display. And for the record, Piaget is one of the major sponsors of this year’s Spirit Awards. This is also the second time the company has done it.

Since its founding in 1874, Piaget has always been supporting the arts; and that philosophy has not changed. Today, Piaget continues to explore the varied forms of expressions; design, video, film, music and fashion are all creative territories that Piaget integrates into its collection.

Thus, it was only natural that Piaget team-up with Film Independent to celebrate for the second time, the best of independent films through sponsorship of the Spirit Awards.

As for the list of winners, we have to wait for the telecast /webcast before we can print it here.
